Have you heard that t you should exercise if you’d like to stay in shape? You may have also heard that it’s important for you to exercise if you’d like to keep your heart and your brain healthy. However, would you be surprised to hear that exercising will also help improve the health of your gums?
As you may know, gum disease is caused by plaque, which can irritate your gums. Sadly, if your plaque isn’t removed from your pearly whites, you might have to deal with bad breath or sensitive or sore gums. Sadly, you might eventually lose a tooth. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do that might help you avoid tooth decay, such as exercising.
If you exercise three or more times every week and don’t smoke, you’ll actually be half as likely to have gum disease. Fortunately, you don’t have to exercise too intensely to reduce your risk of gum disease. If you aren’t currently exercising but would like to start, there are a number of things you could consider doing. For example, you might start by doing something you enjoy, whether that be running, walking, or playing your favorite sport. While any exercise will help, please remember that exercising three times a week will be most beneficial. If you’d like to learn more about the benefits of exercise, please remember to set up a meeting with your doctor.
